This is not about the ESD but ran across the inofrmation and thought I would post it. Enjoy!
To the readers that think the GDC is a better conference this may be for you. When I talk the best conference I mean from top to bottom in the conference. Sure you may have a team or two that wins basketball and football titles but they come from Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls schools should be good as they for the most part hand pick their teams and have the best of the best on the team.
The ESD Conference in basketball does not have bottom feeders like the GDC has. You can have Huron host let’s say Pierre, the bottom team in boy’s basketball this year, and it most likely will be a solid game. You take the top in the GDC against the bottom of the GDC and 9 times out of 10 you get a blow-out.
That is why South Dakota sports are so fun! Who is best? Who can beat who? The argument goes on!
Six radio stations carry a weekly radio show that airs on Friday’s and I have found out the times you can pick it up.
KOKK-Huron 12:30pm
KZKK-Huron 3:00pm
KWAT_Watertown 12:35pm
KYNT-Yankton 8:45am, 5:45pm, and during pre-game show during Friday night games
KCCR-Pierre 7:55am and 12:35pm
KORN-Mitchell 5:35pm
KBRK-Brookings during the Sports Talk Show in 3:00pm hour I think
Great show to keep updated with on the ESD Conference!
I am so glad I can blog about the ESD Conference, the best conference in the state! Year in and year out teams from the ESD have been outstanding in both boy’s and girl’s basketball and this year is no different. According to the Sportswriters, and I am not one, both Class “AA” polls have ESD teams on top! Huron is the BEST team in boy’s basketball this year with Sioux Falls Roosevelt good but not playing like a true team yet. They barely beat Lincoln on January 26th and Lincoln is not very good. I think Mitchell will find their way and Aberdeen Central has the best player in the state in Jared Hannigan.
In the ESD girl’s race Aberdeen Central is tough with nice post players and solid guards that get the job done. This might be the best team Dawn Sieler has ever had in Aberdeen, and she has had some good ones over the years. Brandon Valley is solid but can have off nights, Huron is not that good but can put some games together. Mitchell girl’s are up and coming. At one point against Pierre on January 26th Mitchell had three Freshmen on the court and an eighth grader waiting to come in. Future is bright for the Kernel girl’s.
If you love the ESD Conference six radio stations run a weekly show on Fridays I found out. I will blog about what times on Friday you can listen to the show but the stations are KORN-Mitchell, KWAT-Watertown, KOKK-Huron, KBRK-Brookings, KCCR-Pierre, and KYNT-Yankton. Weekly Radio show that lasts about four or five minutes talking about teams and stuff in the ESD. Check back with times on that show.
Until next time, this is the ESD Buzzard Blog for January 28th, 2010
